Future scenario: living

In these next coming coolhunts, I’m going to tell you about some possibilities for the future. What will the food be like, what will we do in our freetime? But first, how will we actually live. I’ve seen so many different signals on living for the future. We’re dealing with overpopulation, robots and even other planets.
I’ll start with the overpopulation. A lack of space for the growing number of human beings on this world, we’re forced to build high buildings. There will be way more flats, but you still have so many buildings to place, that it will become really urban. There will be way less parks or green to see in the city. That why there’s thought of a concept that is called ‘L’Arbre Blanc’. This is a building that is been inspired by a tree. It’s a high building, which is seen as the trunk, with balconies that are seen as leaves. That results itself in a cylinder sized building with balconies that are all around the building. Also the balconies itself contain a lot of green and trees. This will give the feeling of being closer to nature.

So, keep that image in mind. You’re living in this, kind of tree house. The next step is about what is in the house. There are lots of signals about ‘the internet of things’.

An example of this trend is having a remote control for the entire house, where you can control the curtains, the TV, the heating and all sorts of stuff. This is what we already have and what we already take for granted. For the future, we’ll take another step forward. We’re all going to have a robot. The robot is meant to be our friend, and will be used for chores around the house, or reminds us of things we have to do on a daily base. It should be moving like a human can move, but it should not look like a human. That’s exactly what Honda is working on for quite some years now. They’ve recently released their newest Asimo Robot. Not too robot like, not too human like. That will be too difficult for people to accept, or to draw the line between a real human being and a robot.
Do you see yourself and your robot living in the ‘L’arbre Blanc’ apartment? Well, if not, you could always live in a house you printed yourself. Printed houses are closer than we think. It’s something that could be built in the near future. There’s already been an experiment in China. They’ve printed ten houses within 24 hours. These are quite average houses though. For the future you could design your own and make it look like a spider web with weird curves on top of a mountain. If you’re a creative person, this will probably be more interesting for you.

Now, we’ve come to the last possibility for your future live. Where do you want your house to be? Would you like to live in the city like over 70% of the human population would do, or would you rather live somewhere else? You could choose for the sea. The overpopulation will cause architecture to be on the water. Or do you consider yourself as even more adventures and would you like to try out live on another planet? We all know about the Mars Experiment. This may not be the only choice you have though. NASA just released their founding of a new planet that is called The Earths Nephew. It is quite livable, so why wouldn’t you give that one a try?

You’ve got lots of opportunities, but aren’t you just as sad as I am that we’re going to live in such a urban world with really little green and space? There might be one day that I’ll miss this little town that I live in. What will you miss, and what won’t you miss at all?
A living space is of great importance on our quality of life. At first it’s a material wellbeing. Owning a living space isn’t something you should take for granted. Second of all, a house includes a great deal of emotional wellbeing. It either makes a human feel really comfortable, or it makes a human miserable. As long as we can be outside and inside the house I think humans will be fine. When we come to the point of not getting out of our homes anymore I think we will feel very anxious.
At last I’d like to tell you that this whole blog post is written after reading facts and real signals. The urbanization, the robots, the high buildings inspired on nature, because we’ll miss it. The numbers are there, the inventions are there and this is my turn on it. I really think that we are going to live in urban cities with high flats and a robot as our “pet”. I wrote what I think we’re heading to, within every scenario. What would be your future living?
I hope you’re curious to read about the traffic in the future. If so, I’ll see you in the next coolhunt!
