The earplug revolution

It seems earplugs could be more innovative than you ever thought. Over the year, multiple engineers went ahead en presented their unique selling points.

The last 1,5 year I’ve been writing about several innovative earplugs. The first one I wrote about was Happy Ears. These earplugs were all about the music. They erase background noises to hear only the music, but they keep it possible for you to maintain your conversation while wearing the earplugs.

This shows that we are very aware about what we find too much and what is whished for. We focus only on sounds we want to hear, this means that we want to be able to speak only with people we wish to speak to and the rest can be erased. We want to hear purely music, not any traffic noises or anything interrupting.

We live with excessive incentives for a couple of years now, and we are on a point that we want to be able to have a main focus. We want to choose specific incentives and the other ones can be erased.

The second pair of earplugs that I talked about last year was called Hush. This literally means Hush. These earplugs make sure that no sound is allowed. Just to experience that silent moment for a while. We don’t get that luxury often. May this be the answer to a good night of sleep? Well, it can play some tunes to relax you plus they are wireless. No dangerous situations in bed are needed. It also comes forward that comfort starts being a thing.

Last but not least are the REVOLS earplugs. These won over the mass. They gained over 2 million dollars on kickstarter. Why? These earplugs are made of silicone gel-filled molding tip. That means that they will form them after your own ears. They are exclusively for your ears. Promises are that they will not fall out, not even during activities like running. They also make it possible for you to control background noises. Unlike the rest you can either erase them, but you can also make them louder than the music itself per ear. This makes you have a safe run and not cause any traffic accidents.

So what is the development here? Over the year, we move from erasing sound to controlling sound. We want to partly take over our sense of hearing. Also, these earplugs become more and more comfortable until they are actually molted to the form of our ear. Design is a factor also. Replaceable components are no stranger. Different colors, different designs, it is all up to its owner. Seems like we want to control everything. Isn’t our mind taking over our body?
