Future scenario: Human Movement

In the last coolhunt I told you about the possibilities of living in the future. Today I question myself how we are going to move from A to B. I bet you all heard about the car that drives itself. The interior can be so much different; it could even be a driving office. I think this is something for the near future though. A little more forward into the future, we’ll probably have more traffic down in the ground or up in the air, rather than on the actual ground.

In the last coolhunt about living I told you about ‘the internet of things’. This is what we’re going to use for our movement as well. You’ll sent a signal and a vehicle, which might be a car that drives itself, will pick you up. This way we are able to use fewer vehicles. The bad quality of the air is a problem that won’t fix itself. Using fewer vehicles is way better for the planet. So it could be the case that we won’t own a car ourselves anymore in the future. Back to ‘The Internet of things.’ You’ll send a signal and a vehicle is responding. Now, we don’t want the vehicle to bring us somewhere, maybe we want the vehicle to bring something to us. There is a concept in development called ‘Gofor’. This app sends a drone your way whenever you send a signal. This drone can do a task for you like for example it could take a selfie for you. That would look way more impressive up from the sky, wouldn’t it?

The drones are up in the air, like more traffic will be in the future. The train is no exception. In our urban cities –where I talked about in the other coolhunt- we need enough space on the ground for the people. The train takes a lot of space, therefor, it needs to be in the air. How?! You might think. Their will be built some square blocks which are kept in the air by pillars, so there’s still something on the air, but we can more around that. The square blocks are standing a couple of feet from each other. No rails anymore, whatsoever. The train is on a certain speed, which makes the train literally shoot through the squares.

This train obviously will take you to a certain destination, which you’re sure off. When you’re not sure where you want to go yet there’s another possibility. You could go by cloud, why not right? Tiago Barros designed a cloud that can take you somewhere, by following the wind. The concept is called ‘Passing cloud’. People enter the cloud with a ladder when it’s down to the ground and when it goes up, you’ll just go where the winds are taking you. How adventures and how special is this? I could only dream about actually being on a cloud, and this concept actually makes my dream come true, I bet it is very inspiring and amazing to more of you.

Unless if you’re afraid of heights of course. Maybe travelling underground would be more your thing. Don’t worry; the underground is not staying behind! The hyperloop is in full on development. This makes you travel in a tube through a tunnel. The tube is kind of shooting forward, which makes you go really fast. The tunnels are underground and connected to different destinations. A whole new infrastructure underground you could say. Only this one will be way faster. Duration of the actual travel will be way shorter, when traveling down in the ground.

That’s also something they want to reach with trains. Scientists are busy inventing a train that can make a free fall straight through the earth. You’ll experience the falling part in the inside of the earth and as soon as you reach the upper part gravity will slow you down again. This can make you reach any destination on earth in 42 minutes and 12 seconds. That sounds absolutely wicked, wouldn’t traveling be so much more fun if you could just go anywhere in such short time!

These are the signals that I find of great importance for the future. One thing is for sure; traffic on the actual ground will be anything but average in the future. Up in the air will mainly save us space; down in the ground it will mainly save us time. The most important thing it will be saving us is the air. I hate to think that we might reach a point somewhere in time, that we can only live inside, because we ruined our air. I hope you’re thinking about it now and then and feel conscious making your decisions when you’re choosing your vehicle.

The infrastructure has a great impact on our quality of life. Usually people hate to wait. By fastening up the vehicles we aren’t bothered with great traveling durations anymore. This could lead to a rise of our development and activity quality of life. We have more time left to do some activities on the destination itself. It also enhances the material wellbeing by being an available product.

Well.. Would it increase your quality of life, our are you more likely to be a fan of slow tourism?
